March 21 - Day 21

Today we fully entered Texas Hill Country - started the day off with three large climbs, then things got easier the hills from then on were smaller, but still very steep.

Many of the cactus and other arid plants are now blooming.  We're starting to see a lot more trees as well.  Lawns are greening up and a few people have already started mowing and weedeating.

We went over the Guadalupe River several times today - water was very clear with a greenish tint.  For most of the crossings, the road simply went right through the river bed, raised about 2 feet above the bed of the river with culverts underneath.  During flash floods I guess you just have to wait until the water recedes to cross the road.

We ended up in Comfort, Texas getting about 84 miles in.  Tomorrow should bring a lot more medium sized, steep hills - wish us luck and a mighty tail wind!
