March 25 - Day 25
After a frustrating day of riding yesterday, today we were rewarded with our easiest day yet. We were on very smooth and flat roads all day complete with wide shoulders - the wind didn't cause much problems for most of the day and was even at our backs for about 30 miles, and we had moderate temperatures - high was only 81 and it was cloudy a good portion of the day.
We ended up in Kirbyville, Texas 125 miles from where we started. Even though we rode a lot of miles, it felt like a day of rest. We were only really working for about 30 - 40 minutes combined the whole day - the rest of the time it was pretty effortless to keep the cranks turning. Our biggest hill to climb was an overpass!
Days like this help explain how we can be gaining some belly fat - very little energy exerted, but still a lot of food going in. For example, here is what my lunch consisted of: FRIED pickles, FRIED catfish, FRIED summer squash, and FRIED hush puppies. They haven't yet figured out how to deep fry the ice tea and peach cobbler I also had - there is no doubt we're in the south now!
Tomorrow we should enter Louisiana- a new state finally. The journey across Texas has been great, but long!
(I have a poor internet connection tonight, so I couldn't include any pictures)

This is the other guy that rode those 125 miles. If anyone falls for that accomplishment seeming like a day of rest. You might be as crazy as the guy who wrote that.
yep Kevin and the walk to school was down hill both ways... glad you got some wind at your back. Might have to ride the brakes, the USPS might not get your next surprise to Bogalusa, LA until Monday.
