March 29 - Day 29
We made today a short day - riding out of Louisiana and ending up near Poplarville, Mississippi for a total of 46 miles. Our legs were getting tired and my family is flying into New Orleans tomorrow, so we thought we'd better get ourselves and the trailer cleaned up a bit.
We stopped at Glynn's in Bogalusa, LA this morning. Shane had sent some of the new spring Quarterlies here, but they hadn't arrived yet. Instead, we got to talk to the owner Jeff - a great guy, really enjoyed getting to know him. He treated us to drinks and snacks, then we were on our way. If you're ever in Bogalusa, be sure to stop in for some tasty food.
Just outside of Bogalusa we entered into Mississippi - another state completed, good bye Louisiana!
We had to take a detour around a bridge under construction today - it was the second bridge out we've encountered. The first one was in New Mexico and the bridge that was missing was spanning what was a dry creek bed at the time, so we were able to just carry our bikes over the creek. This time the bridge was over a swamp - we didn't have the same enthusiasm about wading through waist-high black water with our bikes, so we went around this time.
