March 4 - Day 4

Today was not a pleasant day to ride a bike due to a brutal head wind - sustained winds in our face of over 30 mph + the entire day.  We expended twice the effort to go half the speed.  When the winds were really gusting, we had to pedal hard just to keep moving forward when going down hill!  We were able to get 60 miles in and ended up north of Blythe, CA.

Other than the wind, it was a beautiful day. We went through the dunes near Glamis - big dune buggy, ATV spot with not much else around.  Only one store in town - for $2.00 you can use their toilet and for only $3.99 you can get a bottled water!

Then we went through the Chocolate Mountains:

Then we came out of the mountains into the Blythe area - very tired after a grueling day of riding.
I don't think I've ever enjoyed a shower more than tonight!  Hoping for better winds tomorrow.
