March 8 - Day 8
FYI - if you click on the pictures in this blog, you can view the full image size - this really helps with the panaromic shots.
We started out in Phoenix this morning - riding about 30 miles through residential streets heading east through Tempe and Mesa. Sam, an ACRES member since 1960, joined us for a few blocks of the route.
Then we began some more climbing - some beautiful mountains:
Kevin captured this photo of a frequently seen roadside desert creature. It's preferred habitat appears to be shady areas near food sources. Gummy bears and anything with peanut butter seems to be it's preferred diet. Creature is normally docile unless you try to disturb it's eating frenzy which can last for 20 - 30 minutes. Note how it searches the horizon for more food even while it's cheeks are bulging.
We even got to go through a tunnel this evening:
We ended up in Globe, AZ bringing our daily total to 90 miles.

Great job guys! Nice to see ACRES members getting in on the fun! Great pictures!
What amazing pictures...thanks for taking them and allowing me to "share" the ride with you. Wish I could see it first hand, but I don't know that I could handle the same transport option! Glad to see you had a day of rest. God knows you need it :-)
God's peace and wind to you.
Brad
Niceto see you slipping into the infinity gaze that all long distance cyclists get, Jason. We'll all help you slowly back to earth when you come home.
